The first component of TOFAS will be the Passenger Terminal Simulation Module. This module will allow Frankfurt to evaluate their Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 performance under alternative demand, operational policy, and design modification scenarios. Subsequent development of TOFAS includes the Landside Access Roadways/Curbside, Mail & Freight, Baggage, Apron, and Taxiway & Runway modules. TOFAS will be a state-of-the-art, airport-wide decision support system used to evaluate the impact of proposed changes to airport operations. It also allows for individual components within the airport (e.g., check-in counters) to be evaluated in detail. The TOFAS tool embraces a philosophy that is: Modular in concept and design User friendly Built upon a common database Flexible in terms of constraints, defaults, and parameters specified Able to operate interactively or in batch mode Able to animate airport operations Flexible in output reports and graph generation Able to link with standard office software (e.g., MS Word) TransSolutions, LLC, founded in 1998, is a women-owned company specializing in the analysis of airport airside, landside and roadway facilities; computer simulation; and transportation planning and consulting. TransSolutions is currently working on projects in Boston, Columbia S.C., Dallas/Fort Worth, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Panama, and Tokyo. The firm employs 25 people and has offices in Dallas/Fort Worth and Miami.
